For this recording, THE OHOHOHS had Schubert's famous string quartet No. 14 in D minor op.Post, D-810 inspire. The duo is expanded to include the Swiss soprano Maja Bader and a choir. She lends her voice to the poet Matthias Claudius. The horror that Corona spread in spring 2020 also reached the musicians when they recorded their album. So they dealt with the subject and came up with this text from 1792. Claudius plays with the image of vanitas, the futility of human activity, vanity and transience. The personified death is removed from the taboo and receives an almost erotic component. He flatters the girl who eludes him - but you don't know how the story will end: does she give herself to the bone man or does she persevere in her refusal? With Death and the Maiden, the musicians set an important text from the era that gave their album the name: "Sturm und Drang".
Für diese Aufnahme ließen sich THE OHOHOHS von Schuberts berühmtem Streichquartett No. 14 d-moll op. Post, D-810 inspirieren. Das Duo erweitert sich um die Schweizer Sopranistin Maja Bader und einen Chor. Sie leiht dem Dichter Matthias Claudius ihre Stimme. Der Schrecken, den Corona im Frühjahr 2020 verbreitete, erreichte auch die Musiker bei der Aufnahme ihres Albums. So beschäftigten sie sich mit dem Thema und kamen auf diesen Text von 1792. Claudius spielt mit dem Bild der Vanitas, der Vergeblichkeit des menschlichen Tuns, der Eitelkeit und Vergänglichkeit. Dabei wird der personifizierte Tod enttabuisiert und erhält eine schon fast erotische Komponente. Er umschmeichelt das Mädchen, das sich ihm entzieht – doch man weiß nicht, wie die Geschichte ausgeht: Gibt sie sich dem Knochenmann hin oder bleibt sie standhaft in ihrer Verweigerung? Mit dem Tod und das Mädchen vertonen die Musiker einen wichtigen Text aus der Epoche, die ihrem Album den Namen gab: „Sturm und Drang“.
In drei Sätzen: THE OHOHOHS spielen konzertante Klubmusik auf nur zwei Instrumenten: Konzertflügel und Schlagzeug. Für ihre Neuvertonung des Gedichts von Matthias Claudius „Der Tod und das Mädchen“ erweitern sie ihr Ensemble um die Sopranistin Maja Bader und einen Chor. Der mit dem Motiv der Vanitas (der Vergeblichkeit des menschlichen Tuns) spielende Text lässt offen, ob sich das Mädchen dem Tod hingibt oder sich verweigert.
